What kind of company is Oceanize?
What kind of company is Oceanize?
A company that creates new value
Torigoe:
The greatest aspect of Oceanize is that I believe it is a company that creates new value.
Beginning with TadaCopy, I have comissioned development and developed applications many times, but in the process, I created something that has not existed thus far. We have created value by utlizing things that were not previously used effectively. In order to realize the potential of students and ultimately, society, we create something never-before-seen.
We always keep moving, I think this is what our company is about.
As the team grows with a large variety of members, you yourself can grow with them.
Hunabashi:
Oceanize, as the name suggests, is a company that sails the seas.
In addition to members of the company, various people from outside the company will join the team depending on the project.
Therefore, as the team grows with a large variety of members, you yourself can grow with them.
Since I work with student interns and overseas members, I always approach work with a sense of adventure, trying to demonstrate the unique abilities of each member.
Additionally, our product range is very broad and at our company we are actively encouraged to try new things.
Why don't you find out what it is like to join a team that presses on fearlessly?
A company where you can develop yourself through working.
Haino:
Oceanize always challenges you to do new things, and thus is a company where you can develop yourself through working. A year ago, I could not speak English at all. Now, I am in charge of offshore development management in Bangladesh. Business English, as well as everyday conversation, was at such a state where I always needed help from the local staff. These days, I am able to conduct meetings and give directions in English every day. It is very challenging for me to try new things like this, but I am convinced that after achieving it, I can grow dramatically.
What about the development/design environment
Torigoe:
When it comes to developing and designing at Oceanize, the most important thing is the ability to think about what you can do.
If you have a lot of skills like application development experience and design skills, you should be able to fully demonstrate it.
Anyone who is good at accumulating skills should be able to support everyone.
Even if your skills are not enough, there are many opportunities to acquire such skills.
When you proclaim "I am good at this!", it should be with the intention to change the world through this means.
Since new projects and tools are quickly introduced, one can "try not to be afraid of failure".
Hunabashi:
Since new projects and tools are quickly introduced, one can "try not to be afraid of failure".
Especially for a designer, it's important to be committed, not only in the wonderful sense of fulfillment and accomplishment that's created by the team, but also for offshore development, where we sometimes exchange designs via Skype. I think that it is highly valuable to do design work in an environment where English can be used.
Through video conferencing we are able to work remotely.
Haino:
Now we are regularly corresponding to our team of about 10 Bangladeshi engineers overseas via video conferencing. In Japan we make the basic blueprints for a project, which we then supply to our offshore team to remotely produce and test the project. Additionally we take visits to the Bangladesh site every few months for direct communication with the team.
Since all work must be done in English, the massive language and culture gaps caused a lot of confusion initially. Regardless, the locals are friendly so it is easy to stay motivated and produce high quality work.
